MELAKA, Nov 4 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of Defence has allocated RM1.13 million to implement 28 MADANI Jiwa Murni Programme (PJM) projects across Melaka throughout this year.
Minister of Defence Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin said that as of Oct 30, 15 out of the 28 planned projects have been completed, another five are actively being implemented, while the remaining eight projects are still in the planning stage.
He said all of these physical projects are fully implemented by the 9 Squadron of the Royal Military Engineer Regiment (RAJD) based at Terendak Camp here, with a focus on the maintenance, repair, and upgrading of community infrastructure and public facilities.
“We are carrying out (MADANI PJM) nationwide. In total, there are 73 Jiwa Murni Programme projects with this year's nationwide allocation amounting to RM4 million.
“However, here in Melaka, we have 28 projects with an expenditure of RM1.13 million. They are implemented through a gotong-royong (community cooperation) spirit,” he told a press conference after the 2026 Ministry of Defence MADANI PJM Project Handover Ceremony for the State of Melaka at the Tanjung Nibong Community Hall, Telok Mas here today.
Also present were Ministry of Defence Secretary-General Datuk Lokman Hakim Ali and Army Western Field Commander Lieutenant General Datuk Khairul Azmizal Ahmad Natal.
At the ceremony, he handed over three completed project plaques with a total value of over RM199,000 to local community representatives, involving maintenance and repair works at the Tanjung Nibong Community Hall, Kampung Tambak Bugis Community Hall, and Raja Haji Surau at the Tanjung Nibong Fishermen's Jetty.
The implementation of these projects is part of the initiatives supporting Pillar 4 of the National Defence Strategic Plan (PSPN) 2026-2030, particularly in strengthening ties between the military and the rakyat through Civil-Military Cooperation (CIMIC).
Mohamed Khaled said the involvement of the Malaysian Armed Forces (ATM) alongside the people is capable of building national resilience in facing hybrid and non-traditional security challenges.
