KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 3 (Bernama) -- The Education Ministry (MOE) has set up a dedicated channel for Parent-Teacher Associations (PIBG) to submit applications for school maintenance and repairs for 2027.
In a Facebook post, MOE said applications will be open from Nov 1 to 30 via a provided link and QR code.
The ministry said the initiative follows Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's announcement of a RM2 billion allocation under Budget 2027, a RM1 billion increase, to repair and maintain all types of schools nationwide.
"However, this does not mean every application submitted will be approved automatically.
"Each proposal must be based on genuine need, with priority given to critical damage and matters involving safety risks to students and school staff," the post read.
MOE hopes the initiative will make it easier for PIBGs to submit maintenance and repair applications for their respective schools directly to the ministry.
In his 2026 National Day address in August, Anwar urged MOE to mobilise ground efforts in every district to review applications for school infrastructure repairs.
