KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 2 (Bernama) -- Malaysia and Finland are exploring avenues to strengthen bilateral cooperation in higher education, with a particular focus on research, innovation, and adapting to advancements in artificial intelligence (AI), says Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir.
He said the matter was discussed during a courtesy call by the Finnish Ambassador to Malaysia, Anne Vasara, and the Finnish Ministry for Foreign Affairs' Special Envoy for Education, Health and Wellbeing, Service Exports and Consumer Brands, Outi Hakanen.
Zambry said the meeting served as a strategic platform to foster closer bilateral ties, particularly in higher education, research, innovation, and talent development.
"Finland is renowned for an educational approach that emphasises quality, innovation, and student wellbeing. There are many best practices and valuable experiences that can be shared to strengthen the higher education ecosystems of both nations.
"I also stressed the importance of expanding inter-university cooperation, expertise exchanges, and joint research, particularly in addressing technological shifts and the rapid advancement of AI," he said in a Facebook post today.
Zambry expressed hope that the discussions would catalyse closer relations and deliver broad benefits to institutions, academics, and university students in both countries.
