KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 2 (Bernama) -- The Communist Party of China (CPC) has outlined four areas of focus for its anti-corruption campaign, including sectors where power and resources are concentrated, after its Central Committee adopted a resolution on full and rigorous Party self-governance, China Global Television Network (CGTN) reported.
According to CGTN in a statement, the resolution was adopted at the fifth plenary session of the 20th Central Committee of the CPC, held recently in Beijing. A communique released said efforts to strengthen Party self-governance had brought about historic achievements and transformations.
Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the CPC Deputy Secretary, Zhang Fuhai told a press conference that the Party would strengthen efforts against corruption in sectors involving concentrated power and large amounts of funds and resources.
He said the focus would be on cases involving intertwined political and economic interests, collusion between officials and businesses, and the infiltration of political circles by capital.
Zhang said greater attention would also be paid to uncovering new and concealed forms of corruption, while misconduct affecting people at the grassroots level would be addressed regularly.
Since the 18th CPC National Congress in 2012, discipline inspection and supervisory bodies nationwide have filed 8.105 million cases and punished 7.922 million people, according to Zhang.
Improper dining and drinking accounted for 18.2 per cent of violations related to hedonism and extravagance investigated in September, according to China’s top anti-corruption authorities.
CPC Central Committee Organization Department deputy head, Huang Jianfa said the Party has more than 100 million members and over 5.4 million primary-level organisations.
He outlined five priorities for managing officials, ranging from the criteria for selecting and appointing them to strengthening their ability to take initiative and deliver results.
