KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 1 (Bernama) -- A sole strike from French midfielder Hugo Boumous helped Selangor FC maintain their perfect record of six consecutive victories in the 2026/2027 Super League after edging Star City FC 1-0 in Kelana Jaya tonight.
The action at the Petaling Jaya City Council Stadium saw Boumous score his first goal of the season in the 16th minute, tapping in a low cross from the right supplied by team captain and Brazilian forward Chrigor Moraes.
Star City had a chance to equalise five minutes later, but a powerful shot from outside the penalty box by Brazilian midfielder Pedro Santos Filho was tipped away by Selangor goalkeeper Sikh Izhan Nazrel Sikh Azman.
Moraes came close to doubling the lead for Selangor before his powerful drive was denied by Star City's goalkeeper Muhammad Farhan Abdul Majid in the 36th minute, keeping the scoreline intact heading into the interval.
Muhammad Farhan then produced a brilliant diving save to deny a blistering free kick taken by Brazilian import Vitor Pernambuco four minutes into the second half.
A red card shown to Moraes for pushing Pedro Santos with eight minutes of regulation time remaining set off alarm bells for Selangor, but Kim Pan Gon's side held firm to defend their lead until the final whistle.
Despite sharing 18 points with defending champions Johor Darul Ta’zim, goal difference keeps Selangor in second place, while Star City remains 10th with five points.
