MAHSA Specialist Hospital Integrates Digital Technology, Extends Care Beyond The Hospital

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 1 (Bernama) -- MAHSA Specialist Hospital (MSH) is integrating digital technology, clinical expertise and patient-centred services to provide coordinated healthcare that extends beyond the hospital, as part of its approach to smart healthcare.

Its chief executive officer and consultant general surgeon Datuk Dr Anitha Haniffa said the hospital's development was guided by the need to ensure that patients could navigate every stage of their care, from consultations and investigations to treatment, recovery and post-discharge support.

“When we planned MSH, we started with practical questions. How would patients move through the hospital? Could they navigate their care independently? Could the teams looking after them work together seamlessly? What would patients need when they returned home?

“These questions shaped the building and the services built around it,” she said in a statement.

Dr Anitha said developing a smart hospital required continuous improvements in daily operations, supported by trained personnel, clear responsibilities and effective processes.

Located in Bandar Saujana Putra, Selangor, MSH began operations on May 19, 2024, with an infrastructure capacity of 250 beds and provision for future expansion to 500 beds.

Its facilities include a 24-hour Emergency Department, operating theatres, intensive care and high-dependency units, a cardiac catheterisation laboratory, a 24-bay dialysis centre, as well as advanced imaging and diagnostic facilities.

Among the hospital's digital initiatives is the MSH+ mobile application, which allows patients to access appointment services, health information, billing and invoice tracking, as well as other digital services.

MSH also secured four-year accreditation from the Malaysian Society for Quality in Health (MSQH) in March 2026, within its first two years of operation.

Beyond hospital-based treatment, MSH is developing an integrated healthcare ecosystem encompassing specialist services, community care, home-based support and wellness programmes, including MSH+ HomeCare, which provides nursing, rehabilitation and laboratory support at home, and ePharmacy, which facilitates medication refills and delivery under pharmacist supervision.

Other initiatives include KuUrus, which combines medical assessment, nutrition, psychological support and exercise with appropriate weight-management treatments, and Food That Cares, which helps translate dietary advice into everyday meals.

MSH is also supporting the professional development of healthcare personnel through its Institute of Advanced Healthcare Training (IAHT) and its collaboration with MAHSA University. The partnership provides practical training opportunities through facilities such as a surgical dry lab and seminar facilities, as well as access to simulation resources.
