PADANG BESAR, Nov 1 (Bernama) -- The Ministry of National Unity (KPN) has allocated RM500,000 this year to upgrade infrastructure and improve facilities in Kampung Panggas Kecil, Chuping, near here, under the MADANI Adopted Village initiative.
KPN secretary-general Datuk Haslina Abdul Hamid said the allocation covered six main development components aimed at improving local facilities and residents' well-being.
She said the projects included upgrading the village surau through roof replacement, structural improvements, toilet repairs, electrical wiring upgrades and the installation of air-conditioning and audio-visual systems.
Other projects included building an open hall with a storeroom and cooking equipment for community activities, repairing fences, constructing a storage cabin and upgrading storerooms at the upper and lower village cemeteries.
Haslina said a cabin for the Voluntary Patrol Scheme (SRS) would also be provided, while four selected asnaf households would receive home repairs to improve their living conditions.
In addition, 40 solar lights with poles had been installed in collaboration with Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP)'s Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Centre to enhance safety and improve facilities for residents.
Haslina said this year's KPN MADANI Adopted Village initiative took a different approach, with the ministry forming a strategic partnership with UniMAP to implement physical development projects in the village.
“The On-the-Job Training (OJT) approach is being implemented by drawing on the technical, engineering and TVET expertise of UniMAP lecturers and students.
“This collaboration represents a form of social innovation and cross-agency governance that is needed to strengthen the country's TVET agenda,” she said.
