Tawau FM Presenter DJ Akhiey Dies At 51

TAWAU, Nov 1 (Bernama) -- Tawau FM radio presenter Abdullah Abdul Wahid, better known as DJ Akhiey, 51, died at 5.15 am today while receiving treatment at a private hospital here.

His elder brother, Mohd Hussain Abdul Wahid, said DJ Akhiey was still able to walk when he arrived at the hospital, but his condition changed after he lay down on a bed.

“He was friendly, easy-going and loved bringing cheer to the family, often offering advice and guidance on various aspects of life,” he told reporters here today.

DJ Akhiey was laid to rest at the Batu 2 Jalan Apas Muslim Cemetery here at about 12.39 pm today.

Meanwhile, Tawau FM broadcasting manager Muzrina Jubaira Sarfuddin said his passing was a great loss to the station, describing him as an experienced and highly skilled presenter who was always willing to share his knowledge with colleagues.

She said he was also well-versed in information technology (IT) and readily shared his expertise with colleagues, particularly younger staff members.

“He provided a lot of guidance and advice, which remain cherished memories for me and my Tawau FM colleagues. I hope his family will be given the strength to cope with this loss,” she said.

DJ Akhiey was an employee of Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) and had served for 21 years, leaving behind his wife and two children.
