KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 1 (Bernama) -- Efforts to extend educational assistance to more students from underprivileged families in the Bandar Tun Razak parliamentary constituency will take into account priorities and available resources, said its Member of Parliament Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail.
She said this was to ensure that the assistance provided reached those who genuinely needed it.
“Of course, we want to help everyone, but we have to consider our capacity and how best to ensure that those who are truly in need are given this opportunity,” she told reporters after attending the Sejahtera MADANI: Education programme at the International Youth Centre here today.
Under the programme, 43 students from underprivileged families registered with the eKasih system in the Bandar Tun Razak parliamentary constituency received National Education Savings Scheme (SSPN) certificates worth RM500 each and school supplies vouchers worth RM100 each.
Earlier, in her speech, Wan Azizah said education could open up numerous opportunities and pathways for children to shape their futures and realise their potential, particularly in pursuing their dreams and aspirations, as well as helping their parents and families.
She therefore hoped that the students who benefited from the programme would be determined to start saving and pursue their studies diligently to the highest level.
