KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 29 (Bernama) -- Thirty-five individuals and organisations received the National Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Awards 2025 in recognition of their commitment to fostering safe and healthy work practices, selected from 346 entries evaluated nationwide.
Deputy Human Resources Minister Datuk Khairul Firdaus Akbar Khan said the awards not only recognise the recipients' accomplishments, but also serve as a catalyst for more organisations to enhance workplace safety and health standards.
He said occupational safety and health must be viewed as a strategic investment in developing a healthy, productive, and resilient workforce, rather than mere statutory compliance.
"With a proactive, innovative, and inclusive approach, I am confident we can collectively shape safer, healthier workplaces and prepare the Malaysian workforce to meet future challenges," he said when officiating at the National OSH Awards 2025 ceremony here tonight.
Also present were Human Resources Ministry (KESUMA) secretary-general Datuk Azman Mohd Yusof and Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH) director-general Ir Ts Hazlina Yon.
Khairul Firdaus said the National Occupational Safety and Health Master Plan 2026–2030 (OSHMP30) serves as the government's strategic roadmap to strengthen the OSH ecosystem, ensuring it remains relevant amid changes in the world of work.
"The master plan also focuses on enhancing OSH governance, digitalisation, the protection of micro, small, and medium enterprises as well as high-risk sectors, while addressing the challenges of gig work, hybrid employment, and climate change," he said.
He said the successful implementation of the master plan requires sustained collaboration among the government, employers, workers, employers' associations, trade unions, academic institutions, and industry players to embed safety into workplace culture.
Themed "Building a Resilient and Inclusive OSH Environment for the Future Workforce", OSHMP30 emphasises sustainability, resilience, and the physical and psychosocial wellbeing of workers.
This year, 346 entries were assessed by a panel of experienced and qualified DOSH evaluators and auditors.
The recipients' achievements reflect the importance of leadership, proactive engagement between management and workers, statutory compliance, and continuous efforts to identify and mitigate workplace hazards.
The event was jointly organised by the National Council for Occupational Safety and Health (NCOSH) and DOSH as part of efforts to systematically and continuously promote an OSH prevention culture.
