KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 28 (Bernama) -- Vertex Material, a Malaysian advanced materials company, has signed a 15-year offtake agreement valued at approximately US$2.2 billion with US-based Sky-Dweller Construction LLC to expand their existing commercial partnership in the United States and Canada into India.

The agreement, involving Vertex Material’s proprietary copper-composite products, provides a long-term commercial foundation for the company’s planned manufacturing scale-up while expanding its reach into major international markets.

Vertex Material chief executive officer Chris Lai said the agreement expands the geographical coverage of the company’s existing distribution arrangement with Sky-Dweller, which previously covered the US and Canada.

“With this expansion into India, we will cover most of the major economies in terms of our customer base,” he said at the press conference in conjunction of its signing ceremony between Vertex Material and Aurelius Materials here today.

Sky-Dweller, part of Aurelius Materials, is a US-based construction and materials-supply company involved in commercial, residential and industrial construction, strategic procurement, and the distribution of metals and specialised materials.

In a separate statement, Vertex Material said the partnership combines its Malaysian materials-development capabilities with Sky-Dweller’s commercial network, which supports customer relationships, specification matching and international distribution.

Through Sky-Dweller’s network, the partners aim to supply Vertex Material’s copper-composite products for applications in industrial manufacturing, electrical and energy infrastructure, and electronics-related thermal management in India.

Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Datuk Chang Lih Kang, who witnessed the signing, said it reflects a Malaysian company’s capability and ambition to develop its own advanced materials technology and pursue opportunities beyond borders.

“The agreement provides an opportunity for Vertex Material to introduce its technology to the US, one of the world’s major markets for infrastructure, industrial applications and advanced technologies.

“I hope this partnership will lead to new commercial opportunities, further product development and stronger industrial cooperation between Malaysian and American businesses. Its success can also encourage more Malaysian technology companies to explore international markets,” he said in his speech.
