ISTANBUL, Oct 27 (Bernama-Anadolu) -- The Saudi-led coalition said early Tuesday that its air defences intercepted and destroyed three ballistic missiles launched by Yemen's Houthi group towards Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province, Anadolu Ajansi (AA) reported.
The announcement did not specify the intended targets or provide details on possible casualties or damage.
On Monday, the coalition said it intercepted and destroyed three drones over the Riyadh region and southern Saudi Arabia, without identifying their origin or intended targets.
The coalition also announced strikes on Houthi positions in Yemen, saying it destroyed ballistic missile launchers, storage tunnels and a missile depot.
Coalition spokesman Turki al-Maliki said the operations aimed to dismantle the group's ballistic missile network and disrupt its supply routes.
The latest developments came amid an escalation between Saudi Arabia and Yemen's Houthi group that has continued since July, alongside renewed fighting between the Houthis and Yemen's internationally recognised government.
Saudi Arabia has led a military coalition supporting Yemen's government against the Houthis since March 2015.
The group has controlled the capital, Sanaa, and other parts of Yemen since September 2014.
