MOSCOW, Oct 26 (Bernama-Sputnik/RIA Novosti) -- LNG will make up 65 per cent of global gas trade by 2055 and its export volumes will more than double to 837 million tonnes, Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) Secretary General Philip Mshelbila told RIA Novosti.

The eighth summit of the heads of state and government of the participating countries of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum will be held on Oct 27 in Moscow.

"We expect that international natural gas trade to increase by 46 per cent, from 1,211 billion cubic metres in 2024 to 1,767 billion cubic metres in 2055. LNG is expected to lead this expansion, more than doubling to 837 million tonnes, with its share of internationally traded gas rising from 46 per cent to 65 per cent," Mshelbila said on the eve of the GECF summit.
