KANGAR, Oct 26 (Bernama) -- Dewan Batu 5 here has been opened as a transit centre to house eight victims from three families affected by flash floods in Kampung Telok early today.
Perlis Civil Defence Force (APM) director Lt Col (PA) Mohd Izaimi Md Daud said the hall was opened at 1.50 am and has yet to be officially declared a temporary relief centre as of 11 am today.
“It was opened solely as a transit centre for the flash flood victims, and APM will continue to monitor the situation from time to time. If the flood situation is assessed as worsening, a relief centre will be officially opened,” he said when contacted by Bernama today.
So far, light rain has been reported in the Kangar area.
