MYDIN Supports Efforts To Expand Market Access For Local Entrepreneurs

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 22 (Bernama) -- Mydin Mohamed Holdings Berhad (MYDIN) continues to be committed to expanding market access for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), small and medium industries (SMIs), and entrepreneurs with disabilities (PWDs) to help them grow their businesses.

It said in a statement that this commitment is manifested through MYDIN's participation in the Jom Malaysia: Ikon Lokal campaign, organised by the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN), which aims to expand the marketing of local products.

MYDIN managing director Datuk Dr Ameer Ali Mydin said that market access is one of the important factors in helping local entrepreneurs increase sales and expand their businesses sustainably, in addition to producing quality products and understanding consumer needs.

"It's not easy for small entrepreneurs to expand their businesses. Some have quality and potential products, but need the opportunity to introduce their products to a wider market," he said.

According to MYDIN, 16 entrepreneurs from NS Choice and the Negeri Sembilan Islamic Religious Affairs Department’s Halal Kotej Go Global initiative participated in the programme to showcase local products while a collaboration with the Selangor Youth Community provided an opportunity for seven businesses run by PWD to take part.

Meanwhile, MYDIN also contributed RM500 cash vouchers to each disabled entrepreneur involved.

"The disabled community not only needs assistance but also opportunities to prove their capabilities. With market access and appropriate support, they are capable of developing businesses and achieving a more independent life," Ameer said.

The sales carnival in conjunction with The Jom Malaysia: Ikon Lokal campaign is ongoing until Oct 25. It will provide the public with the opportunity to purchase local products and support participating entrepreneurs.
