Six Local Films Receive RM1.2 Mln Under ITFC 2.0

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 22 (Bernama) -- The National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS) has disbursed RM1,218,259.40 under the second round of the 2026 Feature Film Screening Incentive (ITFC 2.0) to six local films.

FINAS chairman Datuk Dr Hans Isaac said the initiative is expected to encourage local film industry players to continue producing quality works.

“ITFC payments are based on audited box office collections, thus providing returns to producers after their films have been screened in cinemas.

“We are confident that this measure will motivate the industry and filmmakers to work on their subsequent films, and we hope these films will also be of good quality,” he told reporters after the incentive presentation ceremony at Menara FINAS here today.

The recipients of ITFC 2.0 are Malam Terlarang (Infinitus Gold Sdn Bhd and Astro Shaw Sdn Bhd), Key to Happiness (Flaming Light Sdn Bhd) and I’m Not Gangster (Dissy Definition Film Sdn Bhd).

The three other recipients are Mah’s Journey and White (FBE Entertainment Group Sdn Bhd), and Our Crazy Adventure (De Kangaroo Production Sdn Bhd).

Hans said the total ITFC incentives disbursed increased from RM2,363,791.41 in 2024 to RM3,252,091.23 in 2025.

“The increase of RM888,299.82, or 37.58 per cent, was due to the rise in the number of films recorded as recipients, from 44 to 50. In 2026, ITFC 2.0 incentives for both rounds amounted to RM1,493,977.90, covering 18 films based on our records.

“In our view, if more ITFC support is provided, we can see progress in the industry. So, we can assess its progress based on the data,” he said.

ITFC is an additional incentive for local film producers based on cinema ticket sales and eligibility requirements under the Mandatory Screening Scheme.

The initiative, introduced by the Ministry of Communications through FINAS, aims to support and encourage filmmakers to produce local feature films.
