Asian Para Games: Injury Forces Liek Hou Out Of Singles SU5 Semis

22/10/2026 04:31 PM

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 22 (Bernama) -- National para badminton ace Cheah Liek Hou missed out on a place in the men’s singles SU5 (physical impairment) final at the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Para Games after retiring from his semi-final match due to a leg injury today.

The Hangzhou 2022 silver medallist withdrew while trailing China’s Li Mingpan 7-11 in the deciding game at Ichinomiya City Municipal Gymnasium.

Liek Hou lost the opening game 13-21 but fought back to level the match by taking the second game 21-11.

However, the leg injury forced the experienced shuttler to end his singles campaign with a bronze medal, allowing Mingpan to advance to the final.

Although he fell short of reaching the singles final, Liek Hou ended his campaign on a high note by winning the men’s doubles SU5 gold medal with Mohamad Faris Ahmad Azri yesterday.
