KUCHING, Oct 21 (Bernama) -- The Sarawak State Education Department (JPN) takes the incident of a teacher being injured by a student at an international school here today very seriously.
It said in a statement today that the case is under police investigation, and that the involved private educational institution will fully cooperate with the ongoing investigation.
"The public is advised not to make any speculation, spread unverified information, or share content that could compromise the privacy and welfare of the individuals involved.
"The Sarawak JPN has contacted the private educational institution involved and is ready to provide psychosocial support to student, teacher and staff in need," according to the Sarawak JPN.
Earlier, Sarawak acting police commissioner Datuk Saifullizan Ishak said a female teacher was injured after allegedly being attacked by a Form Four male student at an international school here.
The student was detained this morning before being released on police bail.
The case is being investigated under Section 324 of the Penal Code and Section 6(1) of the Explosives Act 1957.
