KOTA BHARU, Oct 21 (Bernama) -- A classroom at Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Chuchoh Puteri in Kuala Krai has been transformed into a science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) hub through an initiative by the Malaysian Nuclear Agency after the school was selected as a MADANI Adopted School for 2026.
The Malaysian Nuclear Agency said that the hub, named Bilik Nuklear SePUTERI, aims to create a learning environment that encourages critical thinking and exploration of STEM knowledge, particularly in the nuclear field.
In addition to the classroom renovation, the school also received three smart televisions to support teaching and learning activities.
The initiative also includes programmes to enhance teachers’ digital and information and communications technology (ICT) skills, as well as awareness programmes on bullying and sexual misconduct among students.
“The programme under this MADANI government initiative aims to establish a learning ecosystem that encourages the development of critical thinking and ideas grounded in STEM knowledge, particularly in the nuclear field,” the agency said in a statement today.
The Malaysian Nuclear Agency also organised the Kuala Krai District-level STEM Carnival to support talent development and nurture a generation of highly skilled and competitive individuals.
The initiative is in line with the aspirations of the National Nuclear Technology Policy 2030 to develop talent equipped to face future challenges, particularly in the nuclear technology sector, the agency said.
It also expressed hope that collaboration with schools, the Kelantan State Education Department, the Kuala Krai District Education Office, the Parent-Teacher Association and the local community can continue to ensure the programme’s benefits are sustained.
Earlier, Malaysian Nuclear Agency director-general Dr Muhammad Rawi Mohamed Zin officiated at a symbolic planting of a chucoh tree in conjunction with the agency’s MADANI Adopted School launch ceremony and STEM Carnival at SK Chuchoh Puteri, Kuala Krai, today.
