KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 20 (Bernama) -- Malaysia is strengthening its international security cooperation networks through the participation of a Home Ministry (KDN) delegation in the Global Security Forum (GSF) 2026 in Doha, Qatar, from yesterday until tomorrow.

The KDN said in a Facebook post that the delegation was led by Deputy Secretary-General (Security) Datuk Abdul Halim Abdul Rahman, representing the Home Minister, together with Malaysian Ambassador to Qatar Faizal Razali.

The eighth edition of the forum, themed “The Future of Alliances”, brings together senior government officials, policymakers and security experts from more than 100 countries to discuss the future of international alliances, strategic cooperation and collective security amid an increasingly complex geopolitical landscape.

Issues highlighted include challenges facing international institutions, strengthening defence and security capabilities, and the role of diplomacy, dialogue and mediation in resolving conflicts and maintaining regional and global stability.

The forum was officiated by Qatar’s Minister of Interior and Commander of the Internal Security Force, Sheikh Khalifa bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, who stressed the importance of international security cooperation founded on trust, shared responsibility and an enduring commitment to global peace and stability.

During the forum, the KDN delegation also attended keynote sessions and side events, including a session titled “Technology for Development: The Future of Strategic Cooperation”, featuring Institute of Strategic and International Studies (ISIS) Malaysia Executive Chairman Datuk Prof Dr Mohd Faiz Abdullah as a panellist.

KDN said the discussions examined the potential of technological developments to reshape strategic cooperation and create opportunities for new approaches to addressing current security challenges.

Malaysia’s participation in the forum also reflected the importance of expanding knowledge-sharing and examining international best practices to address cross-border security threats.

According to KDN, strong international cooperation, the capacity for collective action and forward-looking approaches are essential to safeguarding national security and ensuring peace and the well-being of the people.
