JERTIH, Oct 18 (Bernama) -- The Felda Tenang community near Hulu Besut has benefited from government allocations totalling more than RM500,000 under the National Anti-Drugs Agency's (AADK) MADANI Adopted Village and MADANI Adopted School Programme.

Home Affairs Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said RM355,000 was allocated to upgrade public facilities, including the community hall, public field pavilion, futsal court, sepak takraw court and mosque.

Another RM145,000 was allocated for AADK community prevention programmes. These include the Anti-Drug Squad initiative, mobilisation of community drivers, and the Healthy Lifestyle and My Drug-Free Village Transformation programmes.

He said the approach demonstrated the government's commitment to ensuring that physical development and community safety go hand in hand. It also addresses social issues through direct engagement with the public.

He told reporters this after officiating the launch of the AADK MADANI Adopted Village and MADANI Adopted School Programme at Felda Tenang today.

Saifuddin Nasution said Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Felda Tenang had also received RM100,000 through AADK and other parties under a corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme to upgrade its facilities.

The works included repairing the wakaf (rest hut) at the Anti-Drug corner, building a covered walkway and repairing fences.

He said the initiative had also received support from the corporate sector. The Tengku Abdullah Ibni Sultan Abu Bakar Foundation and the Foreign Workers Medical Examination Monitoring Agency contributed RM46,000 to improve the school's facilities.

The improvements included installing drain covers, smart televisions and digital education smart boards.

“In addition, FGV Holdings Bhd contributed 100 food box sets for AADK clients in the community and the asnaf (zakat recipients) in the settlement. Another RM10,000 was allocated to the SK Felda Tenang Parent-Teacher Association (PIBG),” he said.
