Nearly 3,000 Delegates To Attend GRS Convention In Kudat This Sunday - Armizan

16/10/2026 03:00 PM

KOTA KINABALU, Oct 16 (Bernama) -- Around 3,000 delegates and observers from 26 parliamentary constituencies in Sabah and Labuan are scheduled to attend the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) Convention 2026 at Dewan Tun Mustapha, Kudat, this Sunday.

GRS secretary-general Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali said Kudat was chosen as the first venue for the coalition’s convention following the Supreme Council’s decision to rotate such events to districts outside the state capital, depending on logistics.

"This convention serves as a platform to bring together central leaders and key division leaders, with the main objective focusing on a two-pronged approach," he said in a statement today.

He said the two-pronged approach aims to set political strategies and focus areas to strengthen the coalition’s readiness for the 16th General Election (GE16). It will also review progress in state and socio-economic development through the GRS Manifesto and the Sabah Maju Jaya Roadmap.

Armizan, the Minister of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living, said the convention's key highlights include a keynote address by GRS chairman Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor and sharing sessions with six deputy chairmen representing the top leadership of each component party in the coalition.

The GRS Headquarters Secretariat has also provided an online channel for grassroots leaders who cannot attend in person to submit their views and feedback.

GRS comprises six component parties: Parti Gagasan Rakyat Sabah (PGRS), Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS), Liberal Democratic Party (LDP), Parti Harapan Rakyat Sabah (PHRS), Parti Cinta Sabah (PCS), and United Progressive Kinabalu Organisation (UPKO).
