Sarawak Schools To Operate As Usual Tomorrow With Outdoor Activities Suspended If Api Exceeds 100

KUCHING, Oct 14 (Bernama) -- All schools and educational institutions under the Ministry of Education (MOE) in Sarawak will operate as usual tomorrow, despite the ongoing haze affecting several areas in the state.

In a statement today, the Sarawak Education Department (JPN) said schools in areas where the Air Pollutant Index (API) reading exceeded 100 must suspend all outdoor activities.

“Students attending school are encouraged to wear face masks as a precautionary measure amid the current haze situation.

“Parents and guardians may choose not to send their children to school if they have concerns about their health due to the haze affecting several locations in Sarawak, provided they inform the school,” the statement said.

Yesterday, the department announced the temporary closure of all primary and secondary schools under the Serian, Sri Aman and Lubok Antu District Education Offices (PPD), with Teaching and Learning at Home (PdPR) implemented during the closure.
