KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 12 (Bernama) -- Agrobank will cover 50 per cent of the tuition fees for its employees pursuing Master's and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degrees through the Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning for Qualification (APEL Q) programme, starting this year.

Its group president and chief executive officer Datuk Tengku Ahmad Badli Shah Raja Hussin said in a statement today that the remaining 50 per cent of the tuition fees can be covered by Agrobank employees themselves by applying for financing through the Staff Educational-i Financing Programme.

He said the Staff Educational-i Financing Programme offers financing of up to RM50,000 or the remaining actual cost of education, whichever is lower, at a zero per cent profit rate throughout the financing period.

"The implementation of the programme reflects Agrobank's commitment to fostering a culture of lifelong learning and providing opportunities for experienced employees to enhance their academic qualifications and professional competencies.

"APEL provides an alternative pathway for workers to obtain academic qualifications by recognising the knowledge and competencies developed through work experience. This approach allows them to leverage their professional experience as a foundation for furthering their studies and strengthening their capabilities in their respective fields," he said.

Tengku Ahmad Badli Shah said that the implementation of the programme is also a strategic investment in the development of Agrobank's talent to produce a workforce that is more competent, adaptive, and ready to meet the ever-evolving industry needs.

He also said Agrobank will continue to strengthen human capital development through the provision of relevant learning and skill enhancement opportunities to build a highly capable and resilient workforce in supporting the bank's mandate as a development financial institution.

According to him, this step is also Agrobank's approach to support the government's efforts to enhance the career development of public servants.
