KUANTAN, Oct 12 (Bernama) -- Pahang Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Wan Rosdy Wan Ismail has urged residents to take precautions against the haze, including reducing outdoor activities, avoiding open burning and wearing face masks when outdoors.
He called on parents, employers and programme organisers to take appropriate measures to minimise exposure to unhealthy air, while urging special attention to high-risk groups such as children, senior citizens and people with respiratory problems.
Wan Rosdy said he took note of the Pahang State Education Department’s decision to temporarily close educational institutions in Rompin and Kuantan from tomorrow in response to the haze and Air Pollutant Index (API) readings in the affected areas.
“The decision was made to ensure the safety, health and welfare of students, teachers and all educational personnel,” he said in a statement today.
He urged the public to pray for the haze to improve soon and for the people of Pahang to remain safe and healthy.
Wan Rosdy said the state government would continue to monitor developments with the relevant agencies to ensure appropriate measures were taken in the interest of the people.
