KUCHING, Oct 10 (Bernama) -- Five victims of the Flying Doctor Service (FDS) helicopter crash in Long Lellang, Baram, on Sept 8 were posthumously awarded the Pegawai Bintang Sarawak (PBS) in conjunction with the 80th birthday celebration of Sarawak Governor Tun Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar today.
The five who perished in the crash, namely Alexson Adit Henry, Debra Moset, Dr Ainul Baraah Kamaruddin, Jessie Paya Jok and Captain Zainol Afiq Bee Sham, were among the 1,350 individuals named as recipients of state honours in conjunction with the celebration.
On Sept 8, a BO-105 helicopter carrying five people, including the pilot, crashed near the Long Lellang Short Take-Off and Landing airport (STOLport).
Alexson, Debra and Jessie were from Sarawak, while Dr Ainul Baraah was from Kelantan and Captain Zainol from Negeri Sembilan.
