KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 9 (Bernama) -- The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) is committed to ensuring that the implementation of initiatives under Budget 2027, particularly those aimed at addressing the cost of living and strengthening consumer protection, benefits the people.

Its minister, Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali said KPDN welcomed the allocations and initiatives to strengthen efforts to address the cost of living, curb leakages through more effective enforcement and enhance consumer protection.

“KPDN welcomes these allocations and initiatives to strengthen efforts to address the cost of living, curb leakages through more effective enforcement and enhance consumer protection,” he posted on Facebook today.

Earlier, when tabling Budget 2027 in the Dewan Rakyat, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced that the government had allocated RM750 million to implement 35,000 series of Rahmah MADANI and Agro MADANI Sales nationwide next year.

Armizan said the total comprised 30,000 Jualan Rahmah MADANI programmes organised by KPDN and 5,000 Jualan Agro MADANI programmes under the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security.

He said the Rahmah MADANI Sales programme would be expanded to rural areas, low-cost housing areas and People’s Housing Projects (PPR), while also helping small traders.

In addition, RM1.1 billion had been allocated to strengthen the operational capabilities of enforcement agencies, while tax deductions would be given to donors of food and equipment to Ihsan Food Bank from 2027 to 2030.

The government had also allocated RM250 million to expand the distribution of essential goods to remote areas, including six new locations, as well as RM10 million to continue the JOM MALAYSIA initiative to market rural products and high-value services through digital and international markets.

Terengganu KPDN director Mohd Mufsi Lat said stern action would be taken against traders who imposed excessive price increases, with enforcement officers conducting monitoring in every district following the announcement of initiatives to ease the cost of living under Budget 2027.

He made the comments when speaking to reporters at the Jelajah Kasih Kembara Pengguna Bersama Komuniti Orang Asli programme in Kampung Sungai Pergam, Chukai, today, where 175 heads of households from the Semaq Bari Orang Asli community received i-FB essential goods assistance worth RM8,750.
