Budget 2027: RM22 Bln For KDN Reflects Govt’s Commitment To Peace – Saifuddin Nasution

PUTRAJAYA, Oct 9 (Bernama) -- The RM22 billion allocation for the Home Ministry (KDN) under Budget 2027 reflects the government’s commitment to prioritising peace and public order, said Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

He said Budget 2027 sent a clear message that the people’s welfare must be championed, national peace preserved and the economy continuously strengthened, as the three pillars complemented one another.

He said welfare was difficult to sustain without stability, peace was insufficient without prosperity, while economic growth that did not translate into tangible benefits for the people fell short of the true goal of development.

“The allocation for welfare, strengthening security assets, enhancing border control capabilities and leveraging technology to combat crime demonstrates that the safety of the people and national sovereignty cannot be compromised.

“A peaceful nation gives the people confidence to go about their daily lives while creating a conducive environment for business, investment and tourism,” he said in a statement today.

When tabling Budget 2027, themed ‘Malaysia MADANI: Reaching For The Skies, While Anchored On Our Values’, in the Dewan Rakyat today, Prime Minister and Finance Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim announced RM22 billion each for KDN and the Defence Ministry.

The allocations cover the procurement and maintenance of assets for the Malaysian Armed Forces, Royal Malaysia Police and uniformed agencies under KDN.

Anwar also announced an allocation of RM490 million for the Border Control and Protection Agency to strengthen national border security.

Saifuddin Nasution said national development must also bring tangible benefits to the people, including through investments in healthcare facilities, public transport assistance, skills development and employment opportunities.

“The true measure of a budget’s success is not merely the total allocation, but the extent to which it helps alleviate the cost of living and improves family well-being in this country,” he said.

He said the nation’s economic strength is a catalyst for a more prosperous future, adding that the economic growth, trade and investment performance outlined in Budget 2027 provided a foundation for confidence in Malaysia’s economic position.

However, he stressed that these achievements must translate into more quality jobs, higher incomes, greater business opportunities and a more manageable cost of living.

Saifuddin Nasution said the next challenge was to ensure that every allocation was implemented efficiently, transparently and effectively so that its benefits reached the people.
