USS Abraham Lincoln Returns To US After 265 Days At Sea

SAN JOSE (California), Oct 9 (Bernama-dpa) -- The USS Abraham Lincoln has returned to the United States (US) after months at sea, with images showing the aircraft carrier arriving at the port of San Diego, German Press Agency (dpa) reported.

The carrier had spent 265 days at sea without a port call, according to media reports. During its deployment, which included operations in the war with Iran, the ship made headlines over alleged supply shortages and complaints from sailors and their families, with around 5,000 military personnel on board.

Reports of problems with the water supply, clogged toilets, and mounting psychological strain among the crew amid various alleged shortcomings drew criticism. In some cases, crew members had tried to jump overboard, according to their relatives. The US military rejected the most serious allegations.

The nuclear-powered carrier left San Diego in November 2025 for an initial deployment in the Pacific. However, the war with Iran led to its redeployment to West Asia.

It was not until early September that the 330-metre-long vessel, which stands up to 74 metres tall, called at Pattaya, a major Thai tourist destination. It was the crew's first opportunity to go ashore after more than 200 days at sea.
