ACC: Xisco Munoz Hails JDT After 6-0 Win Over PKR Svay Rieng FC

ISKANDAR PUTERI, Oct 9 (Bernama) -- Johor Darul Ta'zim (JDT) head coach Xisco Munoz hailed his players’ performance and energy after a resounding 6-0 victory over Cambodia’s PKR Svay Rieng FC in their ASEAN Club Championship (ACC) 2026/2027 Group B fixture at Sultan Ibrahim Stadium last night.

Despite returning to action after a lengthy international break, Munoz expressed satisfaction with the way his side controlled the match.

“I want to congratulate our players because their performance was incredible. After a long break without matches, they played with the same energy, power and character,” he told a post-match press conference at the stadium.

Munoz added that creating numerous scoring chances was key to their triumph, despite holding a narrow 1-0 lead at half-time.

“The most important thing is that our players can create these chances. We kept believing in our game, and the goals came in the second half,” he said.

On the other hand, PKR Svay Rieng FC head coach Matthew Mervyn McConkey expressed disappointment over his team's heavy defeat, describing the result as unacceptable due to costly individual mistakes.

“We made too many individual mistakes tonight. Losing 6-0 is not acceptable for our club, no matter who we play against,” he said.

He admitted that JDT raised their game in the second half while his players lost focus.

“JDT could have scored more in the first half. In the second half, they played much better, and we dropped our level. When you make mistakes against a good team, they will punish you,” he added.

He said his team would rectify their mistakes and work harder to prepare for their next match.
