PUCHONG, Oct 8 (Bernama) -- The Malaysian Association of Science and Engineering Technology (MASET) is targeting 100 per cent job placement for all 50 participants in the 2026 cohort of the 5G Enterprise Accelerator: Upskilling for Careers in 5G, AI, Cloud and Industry 4.0 programme within four weeks.
MASET director Ir Ts Suresh Kumar Kandasamy said the programme, which began on Sept 2 under a train-and-place training and employment programme, is fully funded through the MyMahir initiative by Talent Corporation Malaysia Berhad (TalentCorp) to strengthen talent development and meet the needs of the country’s technology industry.
“MASET has previously worked with several telecommunications companies, including Maxis and Huawei, to create job opportunities for participants.
“This collaboration helps ensure that the training provided is aligned with workplace skills requirements, while also giving participants opportunities to build careers in the technology sector,” he told Bernama at the programme’s closing ceremony here today.
Suresh said the programme recorded a 100 per cent examination pass rate, while last year’s cohort also achieved a 100 per cent job placement rate.
“MASET, with more than 10 years of experience in training and skills development, will continue to provide training aligned with industry needs and technological developments.
“The intensive training combines technical training, practical exposure, certification preparation and career development, as well as skills to help participants enter the technology workforce,” he said.
He said one of the programme’s key focuses is equipping participants with skills that meet current industry needs, particularly in technology fields and roles in high demand among employers.
Meanwhile, programme participant Chua Yu Xiang, 23, thanked MASET and TalentCorp for the opportunity to secure a job with a telecommunications company as a technical site survey engineer.
Nur Izyan Bolhan, 34, said the programme helped her deepen her skills and apply them directly in her new role at an electronics company in Shah Alam, Selangor.
“I am very excited and grateful to have received this job offer. It is a great opportunity for me to start a new career after completing the training,” she said.
Meanwhile, MASET said in a statement that the programme’s participants included graduates with bachelor’s degrees or higher qualifications in engineering or related fields, as well as fresh graduates and those who are unemployed.
According to the statement, the participants were trained in 5G technology, artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, automation and Industry 4.0 applications.
“The programme content is further strengthened through collaboration with LabLabee, which provided practical training in telco cloud, Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), OpenStack, Kubernetes and the use of Application Programming Interfaces (APIs).
“The collaboration helped participants understand the application of technology in an industrial environment. They also underwent practical training and preparation for the Qualcomm Academy 5G Introductory-Level Certification and Qualcomm Academy 5G Associate-Level Certification,” the statement said.
MASET said the collaboration with Qualcomm Academy expands access to free AI training, with a target of enrolling 10,000 students from higher education institutions across Malaysia.
