Highest Female Population Recorded: Perak To Focus More On Women-centric Programmes In Muallim

IPOH, Oct 8 (Bernama) -- The state government will focus more on women-centric programmes and initiatives in Muallim, following the district's recording of the highest female population in Malaysia according to the Department of Statistics Malaysia’s (DOSM) Current Population Estimates by Administrative Districts.

Perak Women, Family, Social Welfare, Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Committee chairman Datuk Salbiah Mohamed said the latest data serves as a crucial basis for the state government to formulate approaches that are more inclusive and targeted towards this demographic. 

“Honestly, this latest data was unexpected, as analyses are typically based on the elderly population; however, these new findings reveal that Muallim has the highest female population in Perak -- and indeed nationwide.

“Based on this data, we must take specific measures to ensure this demographic truly benefits from state government policies and planning,” she said.

She made these remarks at a press conference following the launching ceremony of the state-level Disabled Persons Awareness Month 2026 at the Perak Darul Ridzuan Building here today.

Yesterday, the DOSM reported that 14 districts recorded a female population exceeding the male population. Muallim showed the most significant gap, with a ratio of 92 men for every 100 women, followed by Bachok (Kelantan) and Samarahan (Sarawak), both recording a ratio of 94 men for every 100 women.
