KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 8 (Bernama) -- The Home Ministry (KDN) is committed to further strengthening its assets, technology, and enforcement capabilities, while prioritising the welfare of security personnel through allocations under the 2027 Budget to be tabled tomorrow.
Its minister, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, said the commitment would build on the implementation of measures outlined in the 2026 Budget and actions undertaken throughout the year.
"Among these measures, the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency's (MMEA) air capabilities were bolstered by the acquisition of new helicopters, while its maritime fleet capabilities continued to be enhanced through the KM Bendahara and the development of the Multi-Purpose Mission Ship (MPMS).
"For the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), the use of Body-Worn Cameras (BWC) was expanded to thousands of frontline personnel to strengthen professionalism and enforcement integrity, while providing protection for both the officers and the public," he said in a post on his official Facebook page today.
Saifuddin Nasution said drone technology and artificial intelligence (AI) are also being utilised alongside body cameras to strengthen national border control.
On the welfare of security personnel, he said the construction, repair, and upgrading of PDRM quarters and workplace facilities, including those for the General Operations Force (GOF), had been carried out.
"New operational facilities are also being planned with the well-being of personnel in mind.
"The new Marine Police Force headquarters, for instance, is not only equipped with operational infrastructure such as boathouses, workshops, and jetties, but also provides quarters and welfare facilities for personnel," he said.
He said the review of allowance rates for People's Volunteer Corps (RELA) members was also receiving attention, to adjust them to more reasonable levels in recognition of their time, effort, and service.
Saifuddin Nasution said the ministry looked forward to further initiatives under the MADANI Government through the 2027 Budget to sustain efforts to strengthen national security and increasingly complex and evolving challenges.
