KUCHING, Oct 7 (Bernama) -- Brazilian Gabriel Peres scored a brace, including the injury-time equaliser, to steer Kuching City to a 2-2 draw against Singapore's Tampines Rovers in their ASEAN Club Championship (ACC) 2026/2027 Group A match at the Taha Ariffin Stadium here tonight.
Visitors Tampines Rovers broke the deadlock in the 13th minute, with a goal from Naberu Yoshitaka Furusawa, and it took Kuching City until the 83rd minute to draw level, thanks to Peres' clinical finishing.
But the home team's joy was short-lived as Tampines Rovers went 2-1 ahead in the 87th minute, courtesy of Koya Kazama.
With defeat looming, it was left to Gabriel to work his magic, and he duly delivered, scoring the equaliser in the dying minutes to salvage a point for his team in their opening Group A match.
Kuching City's next fixture will see them entertaining Borneo FC Samarinda of Indonesia at the same venue on Dec 9.
In the other two Group A matches tonight, Buriram United were held 0-0 by Borneo FC Samarinda while Thailand's Ratchaburi drew 1-1 with Ho Chi Minh City Police.
