KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 7 (Bernama) -- More than 1,800 silat exponents from Malaysia and abroad are set to compete in the Sport School Junior Fighter (SSJF) Cup 3.0 National Silat Championship and International Invitational at the Titiwangsa Stadium here from Oct 14 to 19.
The championship, organised by the Wira Titiwangsa Sports Silat Club (KSOWT) through the SSJF initiative, will feature two main disciplines, namely Jurus (Artistic) and Tanding (Sport).
In a statement today, KSOWT said the third edition of the championship would involve participation from more than 10 states, as well as international invitational teams from countries including Indonesia, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan.
"Besides serving as a competitive platform, SSJF Cup 3.0 aims to develop young talent by integrating sports, education and cultural elements, while providing competitive exposure to school-going participants.
"The championship also provides an opportunity for the exponents to obtain participation recognition that can contribute to their Physical, Sports and Co-curricular Assessment (PAJSK) records, subject to the requirements and recognition of the education authorities," the statement said.
The championship's opening ceremony is scheduled for Oct 14 and is expected to be officiated by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
