KANGAR, Oct 7 (Bernama) -- Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin (UniSIRAJ) has recorded a significant increase in its graduate employability (GE) rate, rising from 50.0 per cent in 2017 to a record 94.1 per cent in 2024.

Raja Muda of Perlis and UniSIRAJ Chancellor Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail said the 94.1 per cent rate was the highest recorded by the university during the period.

His Highness said the achievement also reflected a consistent upward trend, with UniSIRAJ maintaining a GE rate above 90 per cent for three consecutive years - 92.0 per cent in 2022, 92.5 per cent in 2023 and 94.1 per cent in 2024.

“This achievement shows that the improvement in the employability of UniSIRAJ graduates, which is owned by the Perlis Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIPs), is not temporary but reflects an increasingly strong and sustained trend.

“More importantly, UniSIRAJ is not only producing graduates with academic qualifications, but also graduates who possess market value, adaptability and the ability to meet employers’ current needs,” he said.

Tuanku Syed Faizuddin said this after witnessing the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between UniSIRAJ and the Silk Road International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, according to a statement issued by Istana Arau today.

Present at the event were Raja Puan Muda of Perlis Tuanku Dr Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil and their second daughter, Hajah Sharifah Farah Adriana Jamalullail.

Malaysian Ambassador to Uzbekistan Rafedah Abdul Aziz was in attendance.

The MoU was signed by UniSIRAJ Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhamad Rozaimi Ramle, while the Silk Road International University of Tourism and Cultural Heritage was represented by its First Vice-Rector for Administrative Affairs, Prof Dilmurod Nasimov.

Istana Arau said the collaboration reflected UniSIRAJ’s continued commitment to strengthening international networks, expanding academic and student development opportunities, and enhancing graduates’ readiness to meet the increasingly dynamic demands of the job market.

“Through strengthening academic quality, industry networks and strategic international partnerships, UniSIRAJ continues to strive to produce graduates who are not only competitive in knowledge and skills, but also capable of adapting to changes and demands in the workplace,” it said.

The palace said the initiative would further strengthen UniSIRAJ’s position as a higher education institution responsive to current needs, while ensuring its graduates remained relevant, competitive and ready to compete nationally and internationally.
