NIISe Implementation To Be Strengthened, Provide Real-Time Data-Sharing Access

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 7 (Bernama) -- The Home Ministry will strengthen the implementation of the National Integrated Immigration System (NIISe) through improvements to early screening, traveller risk assessment and profiling, as well as the provision of real-time data-sharing access among various agencies.

Its Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the measures would be implemented in stages to replace the existing Malaysian Immigration System (myIMMs) through the use of more modern and integrated technology and infrastructure.

He said NIISe’s real-time data integration and sharing involved cooperation with various agencies, including the National Higher Education Fund Corporation (PTPTN), Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), Interpol, Inland Revenue Board (LHDN), Prisons Department and Ministry of Transport to support comprehensive border surveillance.

“The ministry is always committed to strengthening the country’s border control and surveillance through information integration and strategic cooperation among enforcement agencies to ensure national security and sovereignty.

“At present, the government implements real-time data sharing and integration through myIMMs, which supports the Immigration Department’s main operations, including control at entry points and checks on travel documents of travellers or individuals at risk against Interpol databases,” he said in a written reply published on the Parliament website.

He was responding to a question from Rushdan Rusmi (PN-Padang Besar), who asked whether the government had a real-time data-sharing system integrating immigration, cross-border crime, smuggling, geospatial, high-risk movement and intelligence information among security and border enforcement agencies.

Saifuddin Nasution said the modernisation and improvement of control systems at entry points were continuously being carried out to enhance the efficiency of immigration management.

On long-term planning, he said the government was also working to design and develop a border control system based on the latest technology to address future security challenges.

“To complement the overall and forward-looking border security ecosystem, the government is developing the National Border Control System (SKSN).

“The system will be equipped with the latest surveillance technology based on artificial intelligence (AI) and data analytics to enable operations to be carried out without human supervision, rapid dissemination of information in real time, as well as continuous round-the-clock surveillance along the country’s land and maritime borders,” he said.

Saifuddin Nasution said SKSN was currently a ministry-level plan and efforts were still underway to refine the details of the system to safeguard Malaysia’s peace, stability and sovereignty.
