KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 6 (Bernama) -- Malaysia and France are expected to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on energy transition soon to accelerate efforts towards a cleaner and more sustainable future, Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said today.
Fadillah, who is also Energy Transition and Water Transformation Minister, said the matter was discussed during a courtesy call by French Ambassador to Malaysia Marc Abensour at the Parliament building today.
He said the meeting also discussed strategic measures to further strengthen Malaysia-France bilateral ties, particularly in energy transition and renewable energy.
“France has experience and expertise in developing green technologies that can support Malaysia's efforts to accelerate the energy transition agenda towards a cleaner and more sustainable future.
“As an initial step, Malaysia and France are expected to sign an MoU on energy transition soon,” he said in a post on his Facebook page today.
Fadillah also expressed hope that cooperation between the two countries would continue to be strengthened through various strategic platforms.
“Hopefully, this cooperation will continue to be strengthened through the sharing of expertise, technology and investment opportunities that benefit both countries,” he said.
