KANGAR, Oct 6 (Bernama) -- Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Tuanku Syed Sirajuddin (UniSIRAJ) has made a strategic move to enhance its global reputation, visibility and competitiveness through its registration with the QS Rankings system this year.

The Raja Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra Jamalullail, said the move marked a significant milestone for UniSIRAJ, demonstrating its readiness to have its performance assessed against global university performance indicators.

“Registration with the QS Rankings system marks an important step for UniSIRAJ in developing its institutional profile, improving data management, and identifying its strengths and areas for improvement against internationally recognised benchmarks.

“The move also reflects UniSIRAJ’s commitment to continuously enhancing academic excellence, research, graduate employability, internationalisation and strategic networking with higher education institutions abroad,” he said.

Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra, who is also the Chancellor of UniSIRAJ, made the remarks at the signing ceremony of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between UniSIRAJ and the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan yesterday, according to a statement issued by Istana Arau today.

Also present were the Raja Puan Muda of Perlis, Tuanku Dr Hajah Lailatul Shahreen Akashah Khalil, and their second daughter, Hajah Sharifah Farah Adriana Jamalullail.

The ceremony was also attended by Malaysia’s Ambassador to the Republic of Uzbekistan Rafedah Abdul Aziz.

UniSIRAJ was represented by its Vice-Chancellor, Prof Dr Muhamad Rozaimi Ramle, while the International Islamic Academy of Uzbekistan, a higher education institution under the administration of the President of Uzbekistan, was represented by its Rector, Kamilov Muzafar Mirotovich.

Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra said participation in the QS Rankings ecosystem would enable UniSIRAJ to strengthen a data-driven and benchmark-oriented management culture, while allowing the university to assess its performance against other institutions using relevant indicators.

“Enhancing UniSIRAJ’s international profile and visibility could also help attract more international students, academic staff and researchers, while creating greater opportunities for strategic collaboration with higher education institutions and international partners,” said the Raja Muda of Perlis.

In this regard, Tuanku Syed Faizuddin Putra said UniSIRAJ would continue to strengthen its institutional readiness for greater participation in the QS Rankings by enhancing academic quality, research publications and citations, international research networks, graduate employability, as well as student and staff mobility.

“These efforts also include strengthening international collaborations and ensuring institutional data is managed systematically, with a focus on quality and integrity,” he said.
