KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 5 (Bernama) -- Takaful Ikhlas Family Berhad and Takaful Ikhlas General Berhad (Takaful IKHLAS), wholly-owned subsidiaries of MNRB Holdings Berhad (MNRB), have distributed RM956,200 in business tithe for the financial year ended March 31, 2025.

MNRB Group chief executive officer Datuk Rudy Rodzila Che Lamin said that tithes were an important instrument in strengthening the well-being of the Muslim community in Malaysia.

“As a takaful operator guided by the principle of ta’awun and committed to our social responsibilities, Takaful IKHLAS believes that tithes are an important instrument in strengthening the well-being of the Muslim community in Malaysia.

“This year, business tithes from Takaful IKHLAS Family and Takaful IKHLAS General were channelled to tithe institutions in Sabah, Kelantan, Kedah, Perak, Melaka and the Federal Territory,” he said in a statement today.

He said collaboration with the institutions in these states would help ensure that the assistance reached those who were genuinely in need and had a more sustainable impact on their lives.

“We view the distribution of tithes not merely as an obligation, but as a form of social investment that can help empower communities, improve recipients’ quality of life and contribute to the overall development of the ummah,” he said.

He added that the distribution reflects Takaful IKHLAS’ continued commitment to contributing to the socio-economic development of communities and enhancing the well-being of asnaf through collaboration with tithe institutions.

Takaful IKHLAS’ business tithe programme is coordinated through IKHLAS Barakah House (IBH), a syariah-compliant platform for collecting and distributing funds established to broaden the company’s social impact across five key areas: economic development, healthcare, community empowerment, education and environmental sustainability.

Pusat Pungutan Zakat Wilayah Persekutuan was the largest recipient, receiving RM313,649.60 from Takaful IKHLAS General and RM68,830.40 from Takaful IKHLAS Family.

Meanwhile, the Sabah Islamic Religious Council (MUIS), the Kelantan Islamic Religious and Malay Customs Council (MAIK) and the Kedah State Zakat Board (LZNK) each received RM156,842.80 from Takaful IKHLAS General, while Zakat Melaka and Zakat Perak Al Ridzuan (ZAPAR) each received RM51,622.80.
