BENTONG, Oct 5 (Bernama) -- Police are finalising an investigation paper on a viral video involving Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) director-general Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1 before submitting it to the Attorney General’s Chambers.

Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said investigators are still taking statements and gathering evidence as part of the ongoing investigation.

“They (police) will complete the investigation paper. I have not seen it, but as far as I know, the investigation is ongoing.

“The completed investigation paper will be submitted to the Attorney General’s Chambers. As to whether it has reached them, I do not have any information yet,” he said at a press conference after the handover ceremony for the completed project to construct, demolish and upgrade the Karak Drug Rehabilitation Centre (PUSPEN) here today.

Also present were Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi, National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK) director-general Datuk Ruslin Jusoh and Bentong MP Young Syefura Othman.

Saifuddin Nasution said due process will be followed, and any decision on the case will only be announced once the process is complete.

Meanwhile, Saifuddin Nasution said AKPS has a major responsibility to ensure integrity issues do not compromise the security and sovereignty of the country’s entry points.

“AKPS brings together the roles of several agencies under one agency. It operates differently and has a major responsibility to ensure that the country’s entry points, whether for arrivals or departures, are not compromised by integrity issues.

“At the same time, agencies under the Home Ministry, including the police and Special Branch, continue to carry out their respective responsibilities,” he said.

Established two years ago, AKPS is an enforcement agency under the Home Ministry that coordinates security, control and inspections at the country’s land, sea and air entry points.

Media reports said Mohd Shuhaily left it to the government to decide on any action that might be taken after a viral video showed him reprimanding an individual at KLIA Terminal 1.

Mohd Shuhaily said the matter had been brought to the attention of the highest levels of government and the Home Ministry, and that he was prepared to accept any decision on the issue.
