MUNICH, Oct 5 (Bernama-dpa) -- Germany captain Giulia Gwinn will miss the national team's upcoming matches due to an injury, the German Football Federation (DFB) said in a statement on Sunday, reported German Press Agency (dpa).
The Bayern Munich defender was substituted in the closing minutes of Saturday's Bundesliga match against Eintracht Frankfurt after twisting her ankle.
Gwinn had resumed playing just a few weeks ago after a break of more than three months due to shoulder surgery.
Germany coach Christian Wück named VfL Wolfsburg's Sarai Linder as Gwinn's replacement.
The games against Australia on Oct 9 in Karlsruhe and against Japan on Oct 13 in Bremen mark the start of the season for Wück and the Germany team ahead of the World Cup in Brazil (June 24 to July 25).
