ALOR SETAR, Oct 3 (Bernama) – The response to the National Service Training Programme (PLKN) 3.0 has been encouraging, with 10 individuals voluntarily showing up at the 513th Regiment (Territorial Army) National Service Training Camp (CLKN) in Kepala Batas here today, despite not having made prior confirmation to join the programme.
Colonel Abdul Rani Abdul Majid, director of the Policy and Development Division at the National Service Training Department (JLKN) headquarters, said this development indicates there are individuals interested in joining PLKN 3.0 after learning about the programme.
“We had received confirmation from 211 trainees scheduled to register today, additionally, as of this morning, 10 people arrived voluntarily without prior confirmation to apply for the training,” he told Bernama while observing the registration for PLKN 3.0 Series 4/2026 trainees here today.
He noted that the 211 trainees who had confirmed their participation were scheduled to register at the camp, with the training curriculum comprising 70 per cent military modules and 30 per cent nation-building modules.
Abdul Rani also encouraged parents to support their children in joining PLKN 3.0, citing the positive feedback received through evaluations conducted with the trainees' parents.
He added that one of the benefits of participating in PLKN is that trainees who complete the programme will earn specific merit points from five appointing authorities, thereby gaining an advantage when applying for relevant services.
The five appointing authorities are the Public Services Commission, the Armed Forces Council, the Police Force Commission, the Judicial and Legal Service Commission, and authorities related to the public service.
Meanwhile, National Service Training Department (JLKN) director-general, Major General Datuk Marzuki Mokhtar, said the evaluation of the PLKN 3.0 implementation revealed a high level of parental satisfaction, with all six key elements recording positive feedback exceeding 90 per cent.
He noted that the validation findings, conducted by JLKN in collaboration with Sultan Idris Education University (UPSI), involved 571 respondents out of 4,199 parents of trainees from previous series.
"Overall, the six elements recorded an average of 95.55 percent for the combined 'Strongly Agree' and 'Agree' responses; the effectiveness of PLKN 3.0 achieved the highest score at 97.98 per cent, followed by discipline and personal transformation at 97.79 per cent," he said.
Marzuki added that the increase in the number of trainees confirming their attendance for Series 4/2026 demonstrated an encouraging response, with 2,009 trainees confirming they would report for duty today at eight camps nationwide, surpassing the target of 1,203 trainees.
