TUARAN, Oct 3 (Bernama) -- For two teenagers beginning their National Service Training Programme (PLKN) 3.0 journey, the experience is more than just physical training, with both hoping to build greater self-discipline, confidence and lasting friendships.
New trainee Muhammad Danish Khusairy Hazri, 17, said he planned to make full use of the training to strengthen his discipline and prepare himself for the working world, particularly in the culinary field he hopes to pursue.
“Through this experience, I want to make the most of what I learn at the camp to improve my discipline and persevere in achieving my family’s hopes,” he told Bernama after reporting for PLKN 3.0 Series 4/2026 at the RELA Sabah Training Centre here today.
The Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) school leaver said he also hoped the programme would provide valuable experience and prepare him for the challenges of entering the workforce.
Fellow trainee Rachel Veralyn Dolimis, 18, from Kampung Rugading, Penampang, said her previous experience living in a secondary school hostel would help her adjust to life at the training camp and become more independent.
“Initially, I felt nervous about meeting so many new people, but I hope the training will make me more confident in communicating and interacting with others,” she said.
Rachel said she had prepared herself mentally and packed the necessary items in advance as she wanted to overcome her shyness and build physical resilience during the training.
Meanwhile, small-scale trader Iyana Musa Taulani, 42, from Ketiau, Putatan, said she was initially worried about the programme, particularly concerns over the intensity of the training and the safety of her daughter, Nur Qistina Maysara Matlan.
“At first, I was worried after hearing various rumours, but after receiving an explanation from the camp officers, I am confident that the programme offers many benefits, particularly in developing discipline,” she said.
Iyana said she was grateful that the programme would provide positive exposure for her fourth of six children, who is introverted, by helping her build friendships and develop stronger character to face future challenges.
