Syed Saddiq, Bella Astillah To Share Wedding Bliss At ‘Kenduri Rakyat’

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 2 (Bernama) -- Muar Member of Parliament Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman and singer Bella Astillah will share their wedding joy with the people through “Kenduri Rakyat” gatherings in Muar, Johor and Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, at the end of this month.

Syed Saddiq said they wanted to celebrate the special occasion together with the local community, with the Muar ceremony scheduled for Oct 25 and the Kota Kinabalu ceremony on Oct 31.

“We want to celebrate these two ‘Kenduri Rakyat’ with the people. The villagers are all invited to join us in the ‘rewang’ tradition and cook together.

“It is pointless to get all this attention if we cannot share it with everyone,” he told a press conference on their wedding here today.

Syed Saddiq said tens of thousands of kilogrammes of rice, coconut milk and other essential items contributed by the main sponsors would be distributed to those attending the two “Kenduri Rakyat”.

Meanwhile, Bella Astillah, whose real name is Dayang Nabellah Awang Astillah, 32, said guests attending the “Kenduri Rakyat” in Muar could come dressed in traditional Johor attire, such as Baju Melayu Teluk Belanga.

“For the Kota Kinabalu event, guests are welcome to wear traditional costumes from their respective ethnic communities in Sabah,” she said.

The couple will tie the knot on Oct 10 at Menara 118 here, followed by a wedding reception at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) on Oct 18.

Bella Astillah was previously married to Singapore-born singer Aliff Aziz, with whom she has two children, Mohamad Ayden Adrean, 9, and Ara Ardeanna, 6.
