Queen Gifts 200,000 Face Masks To Malaysian Motorcyclists Working In Singapore

JOHOR BAHRU, Oct 2 (Bernama) -- Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia, has consented to gift 200,000 face masks to Malaysian motorcyclists working in Singapore amid the haze affecting Johor.

According to a post on Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar’s Facebook page, the contribution was made through the Sultan Ibrahim Johor Foundation (YSIJ) and the Raja Zarith Sofiah of Johor Foundation (YRZSNJ).

The face masks were handed over to the Malaysia Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) at the Sultan Abu Bakar Complex (KSAB) in Gelang Patah and Bangunan Sultan Iskandar (BSI) here.

The symbolic handover was officiated by YSIJ senior manager Shah Reza Md Kanafe and YRZSNJ chief executive officer Hishamuddin Abd Rahim to AKPS KSAB Entry Point assistant commander Wan Muhammad Firdaus Wan Kamari and AKPS BSI Enforcement Unit head Sapian Kamarudin.

Hishamuddin said the contribution reflected Her Majesty’s concern for the health and well-being of the people, particularly workers exposed to the risk of respiratory problems due to the haze.

“This initiative is a testament to Her Majesty’s concern, constantly prioritising the health of the people, especially motorcyclists who have to face adverse weather and prolonged haze while commuting to earn a living every day,” he said.

YSIJ, in collaboration with Eco-Shop, contributed 100,000 face masks, while YRZSNJ contributed the same amount.

All 200,000 face masks will be distributed periodically to motorcyclists commuting through the two entry points between Malaysia and Singapore.
