GEORGE TOWN, Oct 2 (Bernama) -- Parts of Jalan Tengah here will be closed nightly from tomorrow until Dec 31 to facilitate preliminary utility works for the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Mutiara Line project.
Malaysia Rapid Transit Corporation Sdn Bhd (MRT Corp) said the closures would be in effect daily from 10 pm to 5 am.
“The closure will affect the rightmost lanes in both directions between the Persiaran Mahsuri traffic light junction and Jalan Tun Dr Awang. Other lanes will remain open to traffic at all times,” it said in a statement today.
MRT Corp advised motorists to exercise caution when travelling through the area.
Signboards, traffic cones and flagmen will be deployed to manage traffic flow and ensure the safety of road users, it added.
