KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 29 (Bernama) -- Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said he received Anthony Loke’s resignation letter as Transport Minister yesterday and will discuss the matter with him.
Anwar said there was no issue with Loke’s performance as Transport Minister, describing it as very good.
“Loke only submitted his resignation letter yesterday. Yesterday, I rushed to the funeral of Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali (wife of former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad).
“What is the problem with his work? His work is good, his performance as a minister is very good. That is why I will discuss it with him,” he told reporters after officiating at the launch of Malaysia Professional Day here today.
Anwar also questioned why the media was focusing on Loke’s resignation when issues of corruption, plundering and “sakau” (misappropriation) that had been raised also needed attention.
“… telling that person to resign. Why ask someone who did not ‘sakau’ to resign?
“I really want to ask, what are we trying to do with this country? We put aside the issue of corruption and discuss Loke’s resignation instead,” he said.
Earlier, Loke said he had submitted his resignation letter as a Cabinet member to Anwar yesterday.
