PUTRAJAYA, Sept 29 (Bernama) -- The Communications Ministry will strengthen cooperation with other ministries to ensure information on government initiatives and programmes reaches a wider audience and is easier for the public to understand.
Minister Datuk Seri Fahmi Fadzil said his ministry’s Strategic Communications Division would work with the Corporate Communications Units (UKK) of each ministry to identify and publicise their initiatives through television, radio and social media.
He said ministries already had allocations to promote their respective policies, programmes and initiatives, but these efforts needed to be strengthened to ensure the intended beneficiaries were aware of the assistance available.
“For example, there are programmes under the Ministry of Finance, such as mySalam and PEKA B40, that we need to ensure reach their target groups.
“At the same time, the public needs to know that these programmes exist and can help improve their lives,” he said after attending the Communications Ministry’s monthly assembly here today.
Fahmi said the Information Department (JAPEN) would compile information on initiatives across ministries into concise modules for use during outreach programmes, including on banners.
The ministry would also prepare a simple, easy-to-understand module listing initiatives from each ministry as well as applications that can be downloaded or accessed via QR codes.
He said this would make it easier for the public to identify government digital services, including the PriceCatcher app under the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry, MyGOV Malaysia under the Digital Ministry, MyJalan under the Works Ministry, and MyJPJ under the Transport Ministry.
Meanwhile, on preparations for Budget 2027, Fahmi said the Communications Ministry had submitted more than 20 proposals to the Finance Ministry for consideration, comprising new initiatives and enhancements to existing programmes.
He said the proposals covered various agencies and sectors under the ministry, including feedback from arts industry players through the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS), the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC), and content funding programmes such as the Film in Malaysia Incentive (FIMI) and Concert and Event in Malaysia Incentive (CEMI).
Budget 2027 is scheduled to be tabled on Oct 9. It will be the fifth MADANI Budget and the second under the 13th Malaysia Plan (13MP).
