MKI Extends Condolences To Tun Dr Mahathir Over Tun Dr Siti Hasmah’s Passing

PUTRAJAYA, Sept 29 (Bernama) -- The National Council for Islamic Religious Affairs (MKI) meeting today expressed its condolences to former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and his family following the passing of his wife, Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohd Ali, yesterday.

MKI chairman Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Shah said the passing of Tun Dr Siti Hasmah was a great loss to the nation, given her significant sacrifices, dedicated service and valuable contributions to the country and its people.

“Yesterday, the nation mourned the passing of Tun Dr Siti Hasmah, a remarkable figure who made immense sacrifices and rendered selfless service and valuable contributions to the nation and its people.

“The 75th MKI meeting conveys its condolences to (Tun) Dr Mahathir and his family,” he said in his address at the MKI meeting here today.

Sultan Nazrin also prayed that Tun Dr Mahathir and his family be granted strength and fortitude in facing this difficult trial.

“May (Tun) Dr Siti Hasmah’s soul be granted Allah’s mercy and grace, and be placed among the righteous. Let us together recite Surah Al-Fatihah, praying that the reward of our recitation be bestowed upon her soul. Al-Fatihah,” he said.

Tun Dr Siti Hasmah died yesterday at the National Heart Institute at the age of 100. She is survived by her husband and seven children.
